Ben will discuss the APhA Foundation’s portfolio of active research and innovation initiatives focused on patient-centered, team-based care that includes pharmacists. He will provide an overview of how pharmacists are being credentialed and compensated just like their physician colleagues on the healthcare team.
Creating new opportunities for service delivery payment that enables pharmacists to improve access to technology assisted solutions in Diabetes care will be one specific therapeutic area of focus.

Scott Bigg is Director in the Supplier Services Group at IQVIA, a leading global provider of advanced analytics, technology solutions, and clinical research services tailored for the life sciences and healthcare sectors. IQVIA’s mission is to enhance patient outcomes by fostering healthcare innovations through its data, technology, and expertise. By integrating big data, advanced analytics, and industry knowledge, IQVIA assists clients in making informed decisions and speeding up the development of groundbreaking treatments.
He initiated his career in the pharmacy field at Rite Aid, where he undertook various roles with escalating responsibilities. Prior to joining IQVIA in 2011, he was employed by other pharmaceutical information firms like Verispan and SDI. Scott holds a BS degree in Accounting from Penn State University and has nearly three decades of experience working with pharmacy data. In his capacity at IQVIA, Scott collaborates with retailers, software vendors, and various data suppliers, helping them gain insights into their market performance through business reviews and market analysis.
Scott resides in Ludington, Mich., with his wife and three children. He enjoys woodworking, honing his shooting skills, and volunteering. He actively contributes to his community through service on county boards, involvement with his church, and with the Mason County Sheriff's Office. Additionally, Scott and his wife are dedicated advocates for organizations aimed at combating human trafficking. Scott is also an Army Veteran who served in the U.S. Army Reserves and Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Pat Knue is a senior project coordinator/manager with the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR). He works on the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Training and Technical Assistance Program, serving as the director for the PDMP Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC). In this capacity, he oversees daily operations and administration of PDMP TTAC services for the field; in addition, he provides expert support to PDMPs, oversees the implementation of national and regional meetings, provides assistance to BJA grantees, and maintains communication with national and federal partners. He also advances the development of PDMP TTAC website content, supports the development of a library of training/education curricula and resources, and assists in the update of PDMP grantee profiles.
Pat previously served as the director and program specialist of PDMP TTAC when the program was supported by Brandeis University. He was the primary contact for prescription drug misuse stakeholders seeking technical assistance, conducted analysis of prescription data, was responsible for the development and maintenance of the PDMP TTAC website, produced a monthly newsletter, provided maintenance of PDMP TTAC’s mailing list, and worked as an event planner in facilitating national, regional, and specialty conferences and webinars.
Before joining PDMP TTAC, Pat served for more than 30 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety, including more than 15 years in the Narcotics Service Division’s Texas Prescription Program and Narcotics Analyst Section. He is a founding member and past vice president of the Texas Association of Criminal and Intelligence Analysts.
Pat holds a B.A in sociology/psychology from the University of Texas.
Amanda Beemer is VP of operations at SevaCare. She is a dedicated healthcare professional with a strong focus on enhancing patient care through innovative approaches. With a background in nursing and remote patient monitoring, Amanda has spent over 20 years in the healthcare industry, working to improve healthcare, medication management, and patient outcomes.
Brad Crosslin is SVP, Retail Pharmacy Products & Services at Synerio. Brad is a product visionary, executive leader, and technologist. From his start as a pharmacy technician to his role as president of PDX, the market-leading pharmacy management software company, to his current role at Synerio, Brad has always believed in putting the patient first, and the rest will follow.
In executive roles at PDX and Change Healthcare, Brad was known for ability to rapidly develop products that addressed the fast-paced, changing market, including enabling the interoperability of patient data across an entire enterprise.
At Synerio, Brad leverages his expertise in new technologies and AI to lead product strategy and development.
Meg Murphy, Pharm.D., M.B.A., is the Pharmacy and Regulatory Affairs Manager at Surescripts. In this role, she collaborates with industry stakeholders to support the practice of pharmacy through advancements in technology and interoperability. She is currently leading the Pharmacy Workgroup within the Sequoia Project’s Interoperability Matters Program, which includes over 45 organizations from across the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Surescripts, Meg was responsible for pharmacy practice transformation initiatives at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), working alongside pharmacists, other health care professionals and policymakers to empower pharmacists to deliver clinical services.
Meg graduated from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy and will receive her M.B.A. from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Jeff Rochon, Pharm.D., is Executive Director of the Pharmacy HIT Collaborative (PHIT), working to advance the usability, adoption, and implementation of interoperable health IT by pharmacists to ensure inclusion within the dynamic health technology ecosystem.
Previously, he served as CEO of the Washington State Pharmacy Association. Successful efforts include passage of the landmark Pharmacist as Providers law.
Jeff also served as CEO of PACE Alliance. PACE’s work led to the creation of McKesson Amplify, supporting pharmacy practice transformation efforts in 50 states.
Jeff’s an innovative executive focused on building bridges by developing synergistic and collaborative relationships to navigate complex challenges.
Ben Bluml, B.S.Pharm., is the Executive Director and Senior Vice President for Research And Innovation at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation. Along with his 29-plus years as the principal architect for the clinical and technology models in the Foundation’s patient care programs and 12 years of pharmacy practice experience, Ben is the author of numerous innovative health care software applications and professional journal publications related to his work on collaborative practice, health information technology, inter-disciplinary patient care, and quality improvement. He works with pharmacists, physicians, payers, technology companies, research and public health organizations across the United States to design and implement innovative patient-centered, team-based care programs and health care service delivery systems.
Ben received his pharmacy degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Pharmacy. His professional passion is improving people's lives by optimizing the way health care is delivered. He focuses system change efforts on empowering patients, increasing collaboration, enhancing patient safety, improving outcomes, and reducing total costs for care. Bluml believes that the best way to improve health care is to put patients first, properly align incentives, optimize medication use, increase communication, and to effectively and securely exchange health information.
Ann Johnson, Pharm.D., is the President and co-owner of Pharmacy Healthcare Solutions, LLC. She began working for the company in 2010 after receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Ann works on a variety of projects, including analytics and pricing reimbursement, drug compendia review and product launch support, 340B program assessment and auditing, PBM RFP support, policy and procedure writing, and operational assessments.
Ann is a member of the ASAP Board of Directors. She is also involved in the Pennsylvania Pharmacist Association (PPA), National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), and the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP). Ann is also a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacists (AMCP), where she participated in AMCP’s Digital Therapeutics Advisory Group.
Lisa Schwartz, Pharm.D., is Senior Director of Professional Affairs at the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA). She is knowledgeable on pharmacy practice issues including pharmacy operations, pharmacy quality measurement, DSCSA, pharmacy automation, and health IT. Lisa utilizes her unique skills to support pharmacy owners nationwide on a variety of practice transformation and business issues.
Marsha Millonig, M.B.A., B.Pharm., is the President/CEO of Catalyst Enterprises, LLC, a health care consulting firm dedicated to creating change toward improved health outcomes. Marsha is also an associate fellow of the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy’s Center for Leading Healthcare Change. Before starting her firm, Marsha was with the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) and the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA, now HAD). She is a practicing pharmacist and pharmacist immunizer as a relief pharmacist for community pharmacies in the Twin Cities. She co-authored a book with William Tindall, PhD on innovative pharmacist services called “Pharmaceutical Care: Insights from Community Pharmacists.” Her latest work, “100 MTM Tips for Pharmacists” is available as an e-book at the Apple Store, Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble and Kobo Canada.
